Super 8 to Leave Paramount+ Soon

Paramount+ is removing J.J. Abrams' sci-fi homage Super 8 from its catalog, according to Collider.

Super 8 is set to leave Paramount+ shortly, according to Collider. The streaming service has not announced a specific departure date.

The film was designed as a homage to Steven Spielberg's sci-fi movies, with Spielberg serving as a producer. Its cast included Joel Courtney, Elle Fanning, Gabriel Basso and Kyle Chandler.

The departure comes as J.J. Abrams has remained active as a producer. In October 2025, after a seven-year gap, he returned as a producer on The End of Oak Street, which received positive reviews but underperformed at the box office, grossing around $120 million worldwide against a reported budget of $80 million.

Abrams has not directed a film since 2019's Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker. His previous original film as director was released in 2010.

Super 8 grossed more than twice as much as The End of Oak Street and cost around $50 million to produce.
