MyHeritage: Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe Are 9th Cousins

The genealogy site traced the connection through the actors' paternal lines, linking them to Ezra Perry, an early settler of Sandwich, Massachusetts.

MyHeritage has confirmed that Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe are 9th cousins, once removed, according to comingsoon.net. The genealogy company said the two actors share an ancestor named Ezra Perry, who lived from around 1625 to 1689 and was an early settler in Sandwich, Massachusetts.

The connection runs through their paternal lines. MyHeritage traced Sweeney through her father, Steven Sweeney, and Monroe through her biological father, Charles Stanley Gifford.

The finding gives a genealogical basis to a comparison that has followed Sweeney for much of her career. She has drawn comparisons to Monroe since she stepped into the limelight.

Earlier this year, Sweeney wore a 73-year-old vintage Cecil Chapman gown that echoed one of Monroe's recognizable looks.
