Taylor Sheridan Has Written Sicario 3 Script, Report Says
A Variety report confirms Taylor Sheridan wrote the script for Sicario 3 and Paramount's Call of Duty adaptation.
A Variety report has confirmed that Taylor Sheridan is officially involved in developing Sicario 3, and that he has written the script for the film. The same report states that Sheridan also wrote the script for Paramount's Call of Duty adaptation.
Sheridan's connection to the franchise dates back to the original Sicario, Denis Villeneuve's crime thriller that marked Sheridan's first writing venture. The sequel, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, shifted focus to Benicio Del Toro's assassin character and was both a critical and commercial success, which sparked development on a third film.
Producers have been working on Sicario 3 since Day of the Soldado's release, but the project faced delays due to conflicting schedules and the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike. Christopher McQuarrie was once reported to be involved in the film in some capacity.
In August 2025, Josh Brolin told ScreenRant that Sicario 3 is "happening" and teased that production would start "soon." The new report from Variety now confirms Sheridan's direct involvement in the script.
