The Batman Part II Pauses Production as Matt Reeves Deals With Family Matter
DC Studios says Matt Reeves has its full support after production on the sequel was temporarily halted; the film is still dated for February 18, 2028.
Production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused so that filmmaker Matt Reeves can address a family matter, according to hollywoodreporter.com.
A DC Studios spokesperson said Reeves has the full support of the studio. No details about the family matter were disclosed, and no date has been given for when filming will resume.
The sequel, which brings Robert Pattinson back in the title role, holds a release date of February 18, 2028. It began filming in June in London.
The project's start date had been pushed multiple times while Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin developed the script. Reeves directed 2022's The Batman, which grossed 770.3 million USD globally, and launched the spinoff TV series The Penguin starring Colin Farrell. He is also a producer on DC's upcoming Clayface movie.
Studio Changeover at Warner Bros.
Skydance will complete its takeover of Warner Bros. on Tuesday. DC chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran are staying on under the new ownership, while Warner Bros. film bosses Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy are leaving.
