Shout! Factory Sets 'The 'Burbs' 4K Steelbook for December 15
The limited-edition Shout Select release carries over the previous 4K disc's extras and a Joe Dante-approved restoration in Dolby Vision.
Shout! Factory is issuing a limited-edition 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray steelbook of The 'Burbs under its Shout Select collector label, scheduled to arrive on December 15, 2026, according to movieweb.com.
The steelbook uses new cover artwork showing Tom Hanks, who plays Ray Peterson, with a panicked expression, rather than the original 1989 theatrical poster art. The disc carries over the special features from the previous 4K edition, including three audio commentaries, a making-of documentary, interviews, an alternate ending and the original workprint.
The 4K restoration was supervised and approved by director Joe Dante and is presented in Dolby Vision. A pre-order listing appeared at retailer GRUV entertainment.
The 'Burbs was released in theaters on February 17, 1989, with a 102-minute runtime. Shout! Factory previously put out a standard 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray collector's edition of the film with the original theatrical poster artwork.
A series reboot of The 'Burbs on Peacock drew over 1.7 billion viewing minutes and had the service's biggest opening day ever for an original comedy, and was renewed for Season 2.
