John Goodman, Ian Alexander, Laura Bailey Join HBO's The Last of Us Season 3

John Goodman, Ian Alexander and Laura Bailey have joined the Season 3 cast of HBO's The Last of Us, Deadline reports. Goodman plays Joey and Alexander plays Paco, a duo calling themselves 'Heroes of the Highway'. Bailey plays Elizabeth, a leader of the religious sect known as the Seraphites.

Alexander and Bailey previously voiced Lev and Abby respectively in The Last of Us: Part II video game. In the live-action series, Kyriana Kratter plays Lev and Kaitlyn Dever plays Abby. The series has a history of casting game actors in new roles: Merle Dandridge and Jeffrey Wright previously reprised their video game roles as Marlene and Isaac Dixon, while Ashley Johnson, who voiced Ellie in the games, played Ellie's mom in the Season 1 finale.

Season 3 is expected to focus on Abby Anderson's arc, in which the Seraphites play a major part. Season 2 picked up five years after the events of the first season, and Joel, played by Pedro Pascal, was killed in the Season 2 finale, though a flashback appearance is possible but uncertain.

Other new Season 3 cast members include Li Jun Li as Miriam, Peter Sarsgaard as Amon, Jason Ritter as Hanley, Patrick Wilson as Jerry, and Michelle Mao, Clea DuVall and Jorge Lendeborg as Manny. The series is co-created by Craig Mazin and the game's Neil Druckmann and is based on the Naughty Dog video game. Craig Mazin is the sole showrunner for Season 3.

Season 3 is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
