Tokyo Film Festival Opens With SUKIYAKI Red Carpet
Junichi Okada, Tori Matsuzaka, Nanase Nishino and director Takahisa Zeze closed the opening-night red carpet for the festival's opening film.
The cast and director of the film SUKIYAKI attended the red carpet on the opening day of the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival on October 26, according to cinematoday.jp. Actor Junichi Okada, co-star Tori Matsuzaka, actress Nanase Nishino and director Takahisa Zeze took part in the event.
The four were the last to walk the red carpet, which lasted about two hours.
SUKIYAKI was selected as the opening film of this year's festival. Okada plays the protagonist Nakamura Hachidai, and Nishino plays his wife.
The film is scheduled for release on December 25.
Cast praise for a co-star's singing
At the event, Matsuzaka praised the singing of cast member Taiga Nakano.
The song behind the film's title topped the US Billboard chart for three consecutive weeks in 1963.
