Tubi Sets Live-Action 'The Babysitter' From R.L. Stine for 2027

Tubi announced a live-action adaptation of R.L. Stine's The Babysitter, planned for release in 2027, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Trevor Calverley will direct the film, and Jem Garrard will write and executive produce it.

The film is produced by Blue Ice. Lance Samuels, Joan Waricha, Jane Stine and Garrard serve as executive producers, with Dan Bernard, Yvonne Bernard, Tebogo Maila, Darren Cameron and Adam Friedlander as producers.

The announcement came ahead of Tubi's New York Comic Con panel featuring Stine, Adam Lewinson, Jem Garrard and Jimbo. Tubi shared a teaser for the film exclusively with The Hollywood Reporter.

Fourth Stine Title for Tubi

The Babysitter is the fourth film in Tubi's partnership with R.L. Stine and the first not based on a Nightmare Hour or Haunting Hour short.

The Babysitter novels were first published in 1989, followed by The Babysitter II in 1991, The Babysitter III in 1993 and The Babysitter IV in 1995. Tubi recently announced Afraid of Clowns, a third Stine adaptation based on The Nightmare Hour short and previously developed as a Haunting Hour (2010) episode, also set for 2027. Pumpkinhead 2 was released on Tubi on October 9, and Afraid of Clowns is teased at the end of it, starring Frankie Honey, Ava Ferrer, Azriel Dalman, Joe Moore and Jimbo.
