Unabomber Hits No. 1 on Netflix With 16.4 Million Views

Netflix's crime drama Unabomber, starring Russell Crowe, debuted at No. 1 on the platform's weekly English film chart with 16.4 million views in its opening frame. The film also topped the charts in more than 70 territories.

The movie dramatizes the life and crimes of Theodore "Ted" Kaczynski and the manhunt surrounding him. Kaczynski was admitted to Harvard University at 16 and participated in psychological experiments conducted by Dr. Henry Murray. Those experiments were CIA-funded research involving verbal attacks, emotional interrogation, and psychological stress on undergraduate subjects.

Kaczynski carried out a 17-year bombing campaign from a cabin in Lincoln, Montana, targeting academics, airline executives, and technology figures. The film's 1990s timeline follows FBI agent Joanne Miller tracking the bomber and analyzing his 35,000-word manifesto, Industrial Society and Its Future.

Annabelle Wallis plays Christiana Morgan, Murray's academic collaborator and co-developer of the Thematic Apperception Test. The cast also includes Jacob Tremblay and Shailene Woodley.
