Universal adds indoor Universal Monsters coaster to Dark Universe
The new indoor coaster will sit next to Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment at Epic Universe, with construction already underway.
Universal announced a third major attraction for the Dark Universe land at Epic Universe: an all-new indoor coaster inspired by the Universal Monsters franchise. Construction on the ride is already underway, according to screencrush.com, and the park plans to open it in the years ahead.
The coaster will be built next to Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, the existing dark ride in the land. Universal said the attraction will tell an all-new story drawn from the Universal Monsters, but did not specify which monsters the ride will feature or emphasize.
Dark Universe currently offers the outdoor spinning coaster Curse of the Werewolf alongside Monsters Unchained, as well as themed food and drink locations including the restaurant Das Stakehouse and The Burning Blade Tavern, which features a burning windmill.
Part of a wider Epic Universe lineup
Epic Universe, Universal's third major theme park in Orlando, first opened in the spring of 2025. It contains four themed areas: Dark Universe, a How to Train Your Dragon area, a Super Nintendo World and a Harry Potter land styled like 1920s Paris.
The park's central hub, Celestial Park, features the outdoor coaster Stardust Racers. Other coasters at the park include the Donkey Kong-themed Mine Cart Madness and Hiccup's Wing Gliders in the Isle of Berk land.
