VisionQuest Showrunner Rules Out Billy and Doctor Doom as the Client

Terry Matalas said the mystery figure is neither Vision's son nor Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, and the answer matters to the story.

Terry Matalas, creator and showrunner of VisionQuest, said the mysterious Client at the centre of the series is not Vision's son Billy, and is not Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, according to screenrant.com. The Client's identity, he said, is important to the story, but he did not reveal it.

Matalas also said the series will not repeat the Mephisto speculation that surrounded WandaVision, when fan theories about a hidden villain circulated without being confirmed on screen.

The first two episodes of VisionQuest introduce the Client as the figure who places a bounty on Vision, leading the mercenary Paladin to track him down. Episodes 3 and 4, titled Reboot and Malware, premiered on October 20.

New episodes of VisionQuest release on Tuesdays on Disney+. The series is the third and final instalment in the WandaVision trilogy, following WandaVision and Agatha All Along.

Familiar names in the mix

Fan speculation has also pointed to characters from earlier Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, including Sharon Carter, who operated as the Power Broker in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Xu Xialing, who took control of the Ten Rings organisation after the events of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Matalas has not linked either to the Client.

The series also marks Ultron's first major MCU appearance since 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, with James Spader returning to the role.
