VisionQuest Showrunner: Jocasta Kept Out of Much of Promotion
Terry Matalas said T'Nia Miller's Jocasta was deliberately held back from much of VisionQuest's marketing before the October 14 premiere.
VisionQuest showrunner Terry Matalas said Jocasta, played by T'Nia Miller, was purposely kept out of much of the show's promotion ahead of its October 14 premiere, according to Collider.
Matalas described Miller's performance as revelatory, chilling, nuanced and a little heartbreaking. The role marks Jocasta's first live-action appearance.
The showrunner also noted that the VisionQuest version of Vision may not remember that Ultron is a genocidal maniac.
Comics history
Jocasta first appeared in The Avengers #162 in 1977. In the comics, Ultron created her intending to make her his wife and stole the life force from Janet van Dyne to try to make it happen. Upon realizing Janet would have to die for her to live, Jocasta told the Avengers, who defeated Ultron. Although programmed to be loyal to Ultron, she eventually betrays him and becomes an unofficial member of the Avengers.
Ahead of the VisionQuest premiere, Marvel released the first three WandaVision episodes for free on YouTube.
