Rannells, Hilty Lead Broadway's 'It's a Wonderful Life'

Andrew Rannells, Megan Hilty and Tituss Burgess will lead the Broadway premiere of It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, with Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna also joining the cast. Jerry Zaks will direct the production, Deadline reported.

Rannells takes on George Bailey, Hilty plays Mary Bailey, and Burgess plays Clarence and other roles. Hamlin plays Mr. Potter and others, while Rinna plays Violet and others.

Previews begin November 4 at the Broadhurst Theatre, with opening night set for November 18. The limited engagement runs nine weeks, through January 3, 2027.

The stage show draws on a story with a long screen history. Frank Capra's film It's a Wonderful Life was released in 1946 and earned five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. It was adapted from Philip Van Doren Stern's 1943 short story The Greatest Gift.

The production arrives as the film approaches a milestone: 2026 marks the 80th anniversary of Capra's movie.
