Young Sheldon Book Author Says George and Brenda Affair Was Show's Hardest Call
Jessica Radloff tells ScreenRant the writers debated how far to push the George and Brenda storyline, and Chuck Lorre felt the show copped out.
Author Jessica Radloff discussed her new behind-the-scenes book on Young Sheldon and the CBS comedy's trickiest storylines in an interview with ScreenRant. The book is titled Young Sheldon: The (Juicier-Than-Meemaw's-Brisket) Inside Story of the Hit Comedy.
According to Radloff, the writers struggled most with how far to push the "emotional affair" storyline between Brenda Sparks and George Cooper Sr. She said the question of how far to take that relationship was the hardest for the room.
Radloff also said co-creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre felt the show copped out by not making the George and Brenda affair physical.
The book covers the making of the series, which starred Iain Armitage as young Sheldon Cooper and was narrated by Jim Parsons. Lance Barber played George Cooper Sr. and Melissa Peterman played Brenda Sparks.
Background
Young Sheldon premiered on CBS in 2017, two years before The Big Bang Theory ended after 12 seasons. The prequel series ran for 141 episodes across seven seasons and ended in 2024.
