Zoe Kazan, Jeb Stuart Talk Netflix's Lonesome Dove Series

In a ScreenRant interview, Zoe Kazan and Jeb Stuart discuss co-showrunning Netflix's live-action Lonesome Dove adaptation and their shared respect.

Zoe Kazan and Jeb Stuart are co-showrunners and writers on Netflix's live-action series adaptation of Larry McMurtry's Lonesome Dove, and in a new interview with ScreenRant the pair opened up about how they are approaching the project together.

Kazan said she needed a partner in producing and showrunning her vision for Lonesome Dove, and described Stuart as an extraordinary one. She also admitted she is daunted by the task of adapting McMurtry's novel.

Stuart said the two have a healthy respect for each other after working together on Netflix's adaptation of John Steinbeck's East of Eden.

A storied property

McMurtry's Lonesome Dove was published in 1985, and a 1989 miniseries adaptation starred Robert Duvall. The last adaptation in the franchise, Comanche Moon, aired nearly 20 years ago.

Netflix previously announced it was developing a new live-action Lonesome Dove series with Stuart and Kazan as co-showrunners and writers. Their earlier collaboration, Netflix's East of Eden, has drawn rave reviews and is now streaming on the service.
