Altman: internal OpenAI model nicknamed Model Name-Hold My Beer
Speaking on the Cheeky Pint podcast, OpenAI's CEO said the model worked through hard academic problems in many fields one after another.
OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman said an internal OpenAI model used to tackle hard technical problems was nicknamed Model Name-Hold My Beer, during an appearance on the Cheeky Pint podcast.
Altman said the model was solving people's hardest academic research problems across many fields one after another. He said he stayed up most of two nights in a row out of excitement, while also feeling sadness and melancholy about something ending.
He also said OpenAI has not done a great job explaining why the potential downsides of the technology are worth it.
In recent weeks, OpenAI published an AI-assisted solution to the Navier-Stokes problem, drawing accusations of plagiarism from some mathematicians, and earlier this month it published results for nearly 400 additional long-standing math problems.
