Amazon Refreshes Kindle Line With Aluminum Models and New Accessories

Amazon updated the Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft with aluminum-shell variants, plus a $35 Kindle Click page turner and a $60 charging stand.

Amazon announced a full refresh of its Kindle lineup, adding aluminum-shell variants to the basic Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft e-readers for the first time, according to androidpolice.com. The company also introduced new accessories, including the Kindle Click page turner.

The basic Kindle and the new Kindle Aluminum release on October 1. The basic Kindle costs $150 for the ad-supported model and $170 for the ad-free version, and comes in Ube purple and Graphite. The Kindle Aluminum is priced at $190 and includes a magnetic cover attachment, offered in Alpine Sky Aluminum or Seaglass Green Aluminum.

The Kindle Paperwhite costs $200, or $220 ad-free, with the aluminum Signature version at $250. The Kindle Colorsoft starts at $290 ad-free, and its aluminum Signature version costs $320.

The Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft, including their Signature versions, are available starting October 28.

All three models also come in Kids versions with kid-friendly covers, priced between $180 and $300, each including 12 months of Amazon Kids+. Separately, Amazon released the Kindle Click page turner for $35, compatible with any new Kindle and any Kindle from 2024 onwards, along with a magnetic charging stand for Signature models of the Paperwhite and Colorsoft at $60.
