Anthropic brings Claude sidebar to Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides

The Claude for Google Workspace add-on is available in public beta to all paid Claude users, alongside new connectors for the three apps.

Anthropic launched the Claude for Google Workspace add-on in public beta today, according to 9to5google.com, bringing a Claude sidebar to Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

The sidebar opens alongside a file in any of the three apps. In Docs, Claude can fix spelling, rewrite portions of a document, or restyle sections without breaking existing formatting. In Sheets, it can write formulas, build tables using document context, and accept uploaded documents or spreadsheets to build new content. In Slides, it can build new slides from existing layouts or themes and flag elements that may need updating.

An “ask before edits” mode lets users preview changes before they are applied.

Connectors link files back to Claude

Anthropic also added new connectors for Docs, Sheets, and Slides that allow Google Workspace files to be edited directly from Claude by pasting a file link into a conversation.

The beta is available to all paid Claude users through the Google Workspace marketplace.
