Anthropic Releases Claude Haiku 5.5 With 75% Lower Running Cost
Anthropic also halved Claude Sonnet 5.5 cache-read pricing and added a monthly API credit for Claude Max and Team subscribers.
Anthropic released the Claude Haiku 5.5 AI model, upgrading Haiku from version 4.5 to version 5.5. According to 9to5mac.com, the company said the new model costs around 75% less to run than the model it replaces.
Haiku 5.5 is Anthropic's third Claude 5.5 model upgrade in the last month, following Opus and Sonnet.
Alongside the model release, Anthropic is halving the price of Claude Sonnet 5.5's cache reads, which the company says makes it around 20% cheaper on most agentic work.
Anthropic is also introducing a new monthly API credit for Claude Max and Team subscribers.
Model lineup
Anthropic currently offers Claude models in tiers: Haiku (smallest and cheapest), Sonnet (medium size and price), and Opus (largest and most expensive). It also offers Fable/Mythos, its highest and most costly tier.
The new Haiku version arrives about a year after the previous Haiku model upgrade, in October 2025.
