Anthropic's Louisiana Data Center Valued at $1.3B Monthly

The Information reports that an early launch could add over $1.3 billion in revenue, while Occam Edge estimates the facility's inference capacity could generate $1.3 billion monthly.

Anthropic's planned data center in Louisiana could generate more than $1.3 billion in additional revenue if it begins operations one month ahead of schedule, according to a report by The Information.

The facility is designed to draw 330 megawatts of power and provide 245 megawatts of computing capacity for inference work. An analysis by Occam Edge estimates that this computing capacity could produce monthly revenue of $1.3 billion if fully used for inference services, with roughly 85% gross margin after accounting for about $200 million in monthly chip rental costs to cloud providers.

Hut 8 plans to begin operating the site near St. Francisville, Louisiana at 330 megawatts starting in the second quarter of 2027, with long-term expansion to 1 gigawatt. Fluidstack will handle data center development and operations, while Anthropic supplies Google AI chips.

Anthropic holds contracts with AWS, Google and SpaceXAI for large computing capacity and plans to lease or secure more than 15 gigawatts in total over the coming years. Vertiv is pursuing a method of pre-assembling power modules, batteries, switchboards, cooling and fire prevention equipment at factories to cut construction time in half.

In October 2025, Measured AI forecast that Anthropic's computing capacity would grow from 1.4 gigawatts in 2025 to 5 gigawatts in 2026, 9.5 gigawatts in 2027 and more than 15 gigawatts in 2028. The company's large-scale data center investments have drawn concern ahead of its initial public offering.

Broader Infrastructure Push

Hut 8 previously operated a Bitcoin mining business before expanding into AI infrastructure. Anthropic uses Google TPUs and Nvidia GPUs to operate its services.
