Report: Apple to split 2027 iPhone lineup into spring and fall

A report citing 9to5Mac says the iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2 would arrive in spring 2027, with the iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone Duo 2 in fall.

Apple is expected to split its 2027 iPhone lineup into two launches, with the iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2 in spring and the iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone Duo 2 in fall, according to a report based on 9to5Mac.

If the schedule holds, 2027 would be the first time Apple releases a base iPhone in spring. The iPhone 18 is rumored to get more RAM, better heat performance, an Apple C2 modem and the A20 chip, while the iPhone 18e is expected to move from the A19 to the A20 chip.

The iPhone Air 2 is rumored to add an ultrawide camera and a smaller Dynamic Island, with its battery expected to grow to 3500mAh — about 10% more than the original iPhone Air.

Anniversary model in fall

The fall group centers on the iPhone 20 Pro, which is expected to mark the 20th anniversary of the iPhone with a major redesign. It is rumored to feature under-display Face ID and a punch-hole selfie camera.

The iPhone Duo 2 is expected to bring improved Face ID and cameras, and possibly an A21 Pro chip.

In the previous month, the iPhone 17 launched with a starting price raised from 799 dollars to 899 dollars. The first iPhone Air received a weaker-than-expected response, and the iPhone Air 2 was reportedly not released last month due to design revisions.
