Bloomberg: Apple Preps Redesigned Entry-Level MacBook Pro for 2027
The entry-level model, code-named K104, would adopt a design in line with higher-end MacBooks with touch screens and use an M7 chip.
Apple is preparing a revamped entry-level MacBook Pro, code-named K104, for as early as the first half of 2027, according to Bloomberg. The machine is expected to run on an M7 chip.
The redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro will adopt a new design in line with higher-end MacBooks with touch screens. According to the report, that redesign is expected to reach the entry-level MacBook Pro roughly six months after debuting in the high-end MacBook Pro models.
Bloomberg also reports that Apple abandoned its plans for high-end M6 chips in order to accelerate the M7 instead.
An earlier report pointed to spring 2027
Earlier this year, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman revealed that Apple had a new M7-powered entry-level MacBook Pro in the pipeline for spring 2027. Historically, the entry-level MacBook Pro has trailed design changes made to the rest of the line: the 14-inch model with M1 Pro and M1 Max arrived in 2021, while the base model kept the 13-inch design until 2023, when it moved to the 14-inch chassis with the M3 chip. Apple's 2016 MacBook Pro redesign likewise did not reach the entry-level model until it gained the Touch Bar in 2019.
