Apple installs giant iPhone Duo models at Fifth Avenue store
The black-wrapped structures appeared ahead of Friday's launch, as Apple confirmed limited walk-in stock at US stores.
Apple has begun setting up large rectangular structures around the glass cube entrance of its Fifth Avenue store in New York ahead of the iPhone Duo launch, according to 9to5mac.com. The installations are covered in black cloth and white protective wrapping and appear to be giant iPhone Duo models.
The iPhone Duo goes on sale on Friday, October 23, 2026. Apple has confirmed that its US retail stores will have a limited number of units for walk-in customers on that day.
Outside the United States, the company's stores in mainland China, Japan and France will only offer in-store pickup for iPhone Duo orders placed online.
No line had formed outside Apple Fifth Avenue yet, though customers have reportedly begun lining up at other stores. A 9to5Mac review of the iPhone Duo was published on the same day as the report.
Fifth Avenue displays are a launch tradition
Apple has used the Fifth Avenue cube for launch displays before. In 2024, it lit the cube in Apple Intelligence colors for the iPhone 16 launch, and last year it installed giant "Pro" and "Air" displays in several locations for an iPhone launch. Last month, the cube was decorated in burgundy, silver and blue for the iPhone 18 Pro launch.
