Apple unveils HomeView smart display with Siri AI recipe steps
Recipes load onto the HomeView by first opening them on an iPhone or in Safari on the device itself, Apple says.
Apple announced a new smart display called the HomeView, showing it in an ad where a family uses the device during a morning routine, according to The Verge. The HomeView can pull up a recipe from a webpage and present it as simplified step-by-step instructions.
Getting a recipe onto the HomeView requires visiting the original page at least once: users first open it on an iPhone or in Safari on the device itself. The display then reformats the recipe into steps on screen.
The HomeView offers voice controls and Siri AI, which Apple positions for hands-free navigation of recipes, ingredient lists and timers. That means a cook can move through instructions and check quantities without touching the screen.
The announcement places Apple's display alongside established destinations for recipes online, including Allrecipes, NYT Cooking and Eater. Bettina Makalintal, a senior reporter at Eater, and Jaya Saxena, founder-owner of the food website Ravenous, are among the names attached to the food side of the story.
Apple did not give a release date or price for the HomeView in the details released so far.
