Apple licenses Huxe tech and hires its staff in EC filing
Apple told the European Commission it signed a deal for personalized audio startup Huxe's personnel and intellectual property.
Apple has signed an agreement to acquire the personnel and technology of Huxe, a personalized audio startup, according to a filing the company submitted to the European Commission. MacRumors first reported the filing.
Under the terms described in the filing, Apple offered employment to some Huxe employees and received a non-exclusive license to Huxe's intellectual property. The arrangement is a reverse acqui-hire rather than a purchase of the company itself.
Apple did not disclose its future plans regarding the Huxe deal in its SEC filing.

Huxe was founded by developers who created the Gemini Notebook (Notebook LM) AI podcast feature. On May 21, the startup announced it was shutting down its service and withdrew from the Apple and Google app marketplaces.
