Apple Adds Impersonation Risk Detection to iOS 27

The anti-scam feature is off by default and returns Unknown, Medium, or High risk levels to apps, which decide how to respond.

Apple has introduced a security feature called Impersonation Risk Detection in iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, according to ZDNET. The feature warns users before they take sensitive actions in supported apps that may be scams.

Impersonation Risk Detection returns one of three risk levels to apps: Unknown, Medium, or High. The app decides what action to take based on the risk level, not Apple.

Apple says it never receives the data used to generate the risk level. The feature is turned off by default.

Users who want to enable it can go to Settings under Privacy & Security and turn on "Share with App Developers."
