Apple unveils iPad mini (A20 Pro), on sale November 6 from 119,800 yen
The 8.5-inch OLED tablet adds IP67 dust and water resistance and an Acoustic Display that turns the screen into a speaker.
Apple announced the iPad mini (A20 Pro) on October 26, 2026, with sales starting November 6, 2026, at a starting price of 119,800 yen, according to game.watch.impress.co.jp.
The tablet is 5.4mm thick and carries an 8.5-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display with peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits and a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio. It runs on the A20 Pro SoC, the same chip used in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo. The 128GB and 256GB models pair a 5-core CPU and 7-core GPU with a 16-core Neural Engine, while the 512GB model has a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU and dual 16-core Neural Engines. Siri AI is supported and can be used in Japanese.
IP67 and a display that produces sound
It is the first model in the iPad series with IP67 dust and water resistance, which Apple enabled through a new Acoustic Display design. A specially designed woofer produces bass through the display, and custom tweeters sit between the glass and the aluminum chassis.
The camera setup includes a 12-megapixel wide rear camera and a 12-megapixel front camera on the long edge with Center Stage. Apple's N1 wireless chip handles Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and cellular models use the C2 modem system.
Pricing is 119,800 yen for 128GB, 136,800 yen for 256GB and 171,800 yen for 512GB. Cellular adds 25,000 yen, and Nano-texture glass, offered on the 256GB and 512GB models only, adds 17,000 yen. The device comes in Midnight and Starlight, with pre-orders opening at 2:10 a.m. on October 29 ahead of in-store and retailer sales on November 6.
