Apple's foldable iPhone Duo shown to press at Seoul hands-on
The iPhone Duo was demonstrated at Apple Myeongdong, with Apple's third event in about two months set for Los Angeles on 28 October.
Apple showed its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, to reporters at a hands-on session at Apple Myeongdong in Seoul on 23 October at 7:30 a.m., according to inews24.com. A further Apple product event is scheduled for Los Angeles on 28 October.
The Seoul session comes after Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Duo in September 2026 and began selling them in major markets. Apple did not introduce a standard iPhone 18 alongside them; foreign media have reported that model is due in the first half of next year.
The 28 October event will be Apple's third in roughly two months under CEO John Ternus. Apple held an iPhone launch last month and announced a smart home product on 13 October.
Component supply has been a recurring subject for the company. Ternus called memory supply constraints a clear crisis in a recent Time interview, and Reuters, citing Bloomberg, reported that rising memory and component costs, supply constraints and the complexity of foldable production sit behind the premium-first launch.
Suppliers and upgrade cycles
Korean suppliers LG Innotek and Samsung Electro-Mechanics are among Apple's component partners. Separately, market research firm CIRP found that the share of new iPhone buyers who had used their previous phone for three years or more rose from 24% in 2020 to 42% in 2025.
Reuters also reported, citing Bloomberg, that Apple is examining ways to speed up product development and move away from its traditional spring and autumn launch cycle.
