Apple limits iPhone Duo walk-in stock on October 23 launch day

Apple says walk-in availability will be limited in 14 countries, while buyers in France, China, Japan and other markets need a reserved pickup slot.

Apple will release the iPhone Duo on Friday, October 23, and says walk-in availability will be limited on launch day, according to gsmarena.com. The company described demand as extraordinary since pre-orders began last week.

Limited walk-in stock will be offered in the US, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye and the UK. Some Apple Stores in Italy will also hold walk-in units, though Apple did not say which ones. In Macao, walk-in sales will take place only on launch day, with limited inventory.

In France, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the UAE, launch-day purchases require a pickup time slot reserved through Apple's online store. The store currently tells customers to check back on Saturday, October 24 for reservations.

Purchase limits and pricing

Apple has capped iPhone Duo purchases at two per person. The device starts at $1,999, €2,299 in Germany and £1,999 in the UK.

Pre-orders opened last week, and shipping estimates had slipped all the way to January before being pulled forward for many buyers.
