Apple to acquire assets of Swiss AI audio startup Samplab
The EU List of Acquisitions shows Apple's subsidiary will take over certain Samplab assets and hire some of its staff; Apple has not commented.
Apple has agreed, through a subsidiary, to acquire certain assets of Samplab GmbH and to hire some of the Swiss startup's employees, according to an update to the EU's List of Acquisitions on 19 October 2026. The filing details the deal between the iPhone maker and the AI audio editing company.
Samplab develops AI-based audio editing tools for musicians. Its website now redirects to Apple's site, and its social media accounts and YouTube channel appear to have been cleared of earlier posts and videos.
Apple has not commented on the acquisition.
The deal between Apple and Samplab was struck in June, according to the filing's background. Samplab had previously described its product as an audio editor that lets creators edit audio files like MIDI, detect and edit chords, match sample tempo and key, and separate stems in detail.
The Samplab move follows Apple's acqui-hire of Huxe, a startup founded by former NotebookLM engineers that specialised in AI-generated audio briefings and podcast-style content, which was disclosed in an update to the EU's DMA List of Acquisitions the previous week, as reported by 9to5mac.com. Apple's audio and video software line-up includes Logic Pro, GarageBand and Final Cut Pro.
