The company also tested a refreshed Siri Remote with a built-in speaker, according to Mark Gurman, ahead of an expected launch this week.
Apple has tested built-in microphones for the Apple TV 4K that would let users issue Siri commands without the remote or a HomePod, and has also tested a refreshed Siri Remote with a built-in speaker to make it easier to find, according to a report by Mark Gurman cited by 9to5mac.com.
A new Apple TV 4K is expected this week, alongside the "HomeView" smart display. Gurman expects the new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini to be available on October 30, while the HomeView smart display is not expected to ship until mid-November.
