Apple Unveils iPhone Duo, Its First Foldable, at $1,999
Apple's first foldable iPhone features dual displays, Touch ID, and preorders have already slipped into 2027.
Apple announced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, during its "Surprise and shine" event. The device goes on sale October 23 starting at $1,999 for the base 256GB model. Preorders opened at 8AM ET on Friday, October 16th, and Apple said preorder demand for the iPhone Duo was extraordinary.
Delivery estimates for the iPhone Duo slipped into 2027 less than an hour after preorders opened, according to theverge.com. The phone has a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display with a nano-texture finish and a barely visible crease. It uses Touch ID on the power button instead of Face ID, and has a main lens and a wide-angle lens.
The iPhone Duo runs the same A20 Pro chipset as the iPhone 18 Pro and features the same 48-megapixel fusion camera as the iPhone 18 Pro, but without variable aperture. It also has an IP68 rating and Ceramic Shield 2 on its back. Apple Pencil support is coming later this year.
Apple revamped iOS 27 controls and apps for the foldable, including placing the dock on the side. The iPhone Duo was unveiled alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple Watch Series 12, and Apple Watch Ultra 4.
