Apple hides a working virtual iPod inside Apple Music's website
The virtual device can be found by knowing where to look or by triggering an error page on Apple Music, and its click wheel plays sound.
Apple has launched an almost fully working virtual iPod hidden on the Apple Music website, according to AppleInsider. The device is not listed in any menu or promoted on the service.
According to the report, users can reach the virtual iPod in two ways: by knowing where on the site it sits, or by getting Apple Music to return an error message.
The emulation is close to complete, and the click wheel produces the correct sound when used.
The find lands on October 23, 2026. On October 23, 2001, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs announced the original iPod — 25 years to the day before the virtual version surfaced. Apple also shipped the iPhone Duo on October 23, 2026.
An Easter egg rather than a product
The virtual iPod is not offered for sale or listed as a service feature; it exists as a hidden page on the Apple Music site.
