Brian Cox has struck a deal with Sony Pictures Television International Production's Digital Studio to create digital-first formats spanning science, astronomy and culture, according to deadline.com. The arrangement is a long-term partnership rather than a commitment to specific series.
It is the second partnership for Sony Pictures Television's new digital studio. The unit's first was with Minecraft creator Tom Simons, known as TommyInnit, whose 100 Questions YouTube series has featured guests including Cox and Stephen Fry. Simons runs the most popular Minecraft channel on Twitch.
The digital studio launched last year with a remit to work with UK content creators, produce digital originals and build creator partnerships.
Cox already runs a YouTube channel with more than 16,000 subscribers. He has presented science programmes largely for the BBC, among them Stargazing Live, The Planets and Brian Cox's Adventures in Space and Time.
