CELSYS: CLIP STUDIO PAINT subscription ARR hits record 6.731 billion yen
The figure rose 1.625 billion yen year-on-year in September 2026, the largest increase CELSYS has recorded for the subscription business.
CELSYS said on October 20 that annual recurring revenue (ARR) from CLIP STUDIO PAINT subscriptions reached 6.731 billion yen in September 2026, according to the company's monthly business progress report for the month.
The figure is up 1.625 billion yen from 5.106 billion yen in September 2025, a year-on-year increase of about 31.8%. CELSYS said the gain was the largest year-on-year increase in ARR on record.
The three-month moving average of CLIP STUDIO PAINT subscription sales came to 560 million yen in September, a record high and up 135 million yen from 425 million yen a year earlier.
Tool sales, which cover perpetual licenses and corporate licenses, were 176 million yen, down from 212 million yen a year earlier. CELSYS moved its annual September sales campaign to October 2026, so September tool sales excluded campaign revenue. The company said the October campaign finished with solid results and that October tool sales are expected to rise.
The churn rate for paid CLIP STUDIO PAINT subscriptions was 5.2% in September, up from 4.6% in August 2026. CELSYS attributed the increase to 12-month licenses sold in September of the previous year reaching expiry and said it expects the rate to return to normal levels from October.
