NTT Solmare says cause of Comic Seymour breach identified

Restart date for the e-book store remains undecided; some system log files were also accessed, the operator says in a third notice.

NTT Solmare said on October 18 that it has identified the cause of the unauthorized access to its Comic Seymour e-book store and has put countermeasures in place, according to a third official notice posted on X and reported by news.denfaminicogamer.jp. The operator said it has still not decided when the service will restart.

The company said that in addition to the previously reported leak of member information, some system log files were also viewed and obtained. It is investigating whether those logs contain member information.

Member data confirmed leaked so far includes email addresses, hashed passwords, dates of birth, gender and nicknames. NTT Solmare said credit card information is not held in the affected system and has not leaked.

Once safety is ensured, the company plans to resume the service starting with web viewing of books that users have already purchased.

Earlier emergency shutdown

Comic Seymour was emergency-stopped on October 15 after unauthorized access by a third party, and the leak of some users' member information was discovered at that time.
