Ember launches Mug 3 and Tumbler 2 with built-in temperature controls
The Mug 3 adds a bottom button for five preset temperatures and is Ember's first top-rack dishwasher-safe mug, priced from $129.
Ember has released the Ember Mug 3, its third-generation temperature-controlled smart mug, alongside the Ember Tumbler 2. The products are sold on Ember's website, Target and Amazon.
The Mug 3 has a button on its base that cycles through five preset temperatures from 125 to 145 degrees Fahrenheit in five-degree steps, so owners do not need the app to change the setting. A sliding lid is intended to help prevent spills, and the mug holds its set temperature for up to three hours on a single charge.
It is the first Ember mug that is top-rack dishwasher-safe; it is not microwave-safe. The Mug 3 comes in a 10-ounce model for $129 and a 14-ounce model for $149. The smaller version is offered in black, white and stainless steel, while the 14-ounce model comes in eight colors.
The Tumbler 2 is a 16-ounce tumbler with a slimmer, taller design that fits standard car cup holders. It is priced at $179 in black and replaces both the Travel Mug 2 and the original Tumbler in Ember's lineup.
Ember first introduced its smart mug in 2016, designed to keep drinks at a set temperature. Some users have reported connectivity or pairing issues with the Ember app. The Travel Mug 2 will remain available until supplies run out.
