esa to scale composite plastic recycling after raising 1.15bn yen

The Japanese company said on October 13 it will commercialize its kneading-based process for mixed resins, sold as Repla pellets and backed by about 1.15 billion yen in funding.

Japanese company esa said on October 13 that it will accelerate commercialization of a recycling technology that converts hard-to-recycle composite plastics into recycled pellets, according to ascii.jp.

The process uses a special kneading mechanism with high-precision temperature and pressure control to pelletize composite plastics made up of several mixed resins, materials that are difficult to recycle through conventional means.

The resulting recycled material is sold under the product name Repla and is suitable for injection molding and extrusion molding.

esa said it plans to expand production of the recycled pellets. The company is also considering licensing the technology to other companies and offering plastic credits.

According to ascii.jp, esa has raised a cumulative total of about 1.15 billion yen to expand its production and supply systems.
