Fiqurobot unveils FR-NIA desktop robot with over 50 expressions
The 28 cm Hong Kong-built companion robot uses 10 degrees of freedom in its face and neck and follows users with a built-in camera, according to etnews.com.
Hong Kong robotics company Fiqurobot has unveiled FR-NIA, a desktop AI companion robot designed to mimic human facial expressions, according to etnews.com.
The robot stands about 28 cm tall and forms expressions by moving its eyes, eyebrows and mouth. It has 10 degrees of freedom across its face and neck and can produce more than 50 facial expressions.
A built-in camera lets FR-NIA track the user, turning its eyes and head to follow their movements. A smartphone app allows real-time control of the robot's expressions and movements and the creation of new motions.
Users can also record their own facial expressions so the robot copies similar face movements. The robot responds based on the user's voice and the content of the conversation.
Fiqurobot said it plans to add a long-term memory feature that remembers conversations and user preferences to increase personalization. The company did not give a release date or pricing.
