Flock Safety Pulls Cameras From Elgin College After Contract Expires

Elgin Community College offered to pay out its contract in December after Flock Safety refused to remove its six cameras; the deal ended in April.

Elgin Community College's contract with Flock Safety expired in April, and the company removed its six surveillance cameras from the campus, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The dispute began in October 2025, when the college asked Flock Safety to remove the cameras. Flock Safety rejected the request, saying it had not violated its contract.

In December, the college offered to pay the remaining five months of the contract and again asked for removal, but received no response.

College staff then covered the cameras with black trash bags and zip ties. Workers in an unmarked vehicle repeatedly removed the coverings.

The contract ran until April of this year, when Flock Safety removed the cameras.
