A 30-year-old woman from Bonita Springs, Florida, was arrested last month after she allegedly sent threatening messages about local law enforcement to Anthropic's chatbot Claude, according to an arrest report cited by Gizmodo.
The report states the first threat was logged on September 26 at 5:10 AM and the second on September 27 at 1:07 AM. Anthropic's automated safety monitoring system flagged the messages, and human reviewers then alerted law enforcement.
Deputies arrested the woman at her residence without incident. She was charged with written threats of violence, a second-degree felony in Florida.
Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno told WINK News that the woman said she uses Claude like a "diary," according to the account. Anthropic did not immediately respond to Gizmodo's request for comment.
