Gigabyte Revives LGA 1700 Boards for 2027 Intel Chips

Two Gigabyte motherboard lines will support upcoming Intel LGA 1700 processors with both DDR4 and DDR5 memory, expected to launch in early 2027.

Gigabyte says two of its motherboard lines will support upcoming Intel processors on the LGA 1700 socket, according to theverge.com. The boards will accept both DDR4 and DDR5 memory. The chips are expected to launch in early 2027.

Intel did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The move marks a return to LGA 1700, which debuted in 2021 with Intel's 12th gen Alder Lake CPUs and supported both DDR4 and DDR5 RAM. Intel dropped the socket for a DDR5-only approach in 2024.

DDR4 first started hitting the market in 2014, and the revived support gives buyers on the older memory standard a path to the new chips.

In August, Gigabyte announced a new series of motherboards for AMD's DDR4-compatible AM4 platform, alongside the 10th-anniversary relaunch of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU.
