Google app beta shows minimizable Search Live camera view

The unreleased interface in Google app version 17.64.13 beta drops the edge glow and adds a smaller viewfinder, per Android Authority.

Android Authority spotted a redesigned Search Live camera interface while testing version 17.64.13 beta of the Google app. The revamped look is not yet live for users; it appeared during the outlet's hands-on with the beta build.

In the redesigned interface, the video feed sits in a smaller viewfinder with a grab handle at the top, and the viewfinder can be minimized and moved to the corners of the screen. The edge glow that appears when the video feed is active is removed.

A bubblier animation now runs along the bottom as Search Live listens and responds to queries. The Transcript button appears to have disappeared from the redesigned layout.

Search Live in the Google app lets users get real-time answers using voice commands or a combination of voice and the phone's camera. According to Android Authority, Google Gemini has been working on a similar viewfinder revamp, following the ChatGPT app; the outlet spotted the bubblier animation design tweak in early September.
