Google DeepMind unveils Genie 4 world model as research preview
Genie 4 keeps scenes consistent for up to two minutes and generates matching audio in real time, with Gemini acting as a director.
Google DeepMind released Genie 4, a world model that generates interactive virtual worlds, as a research preview on October 27, 2026, according to digitaltoday.co.kr. The model is currently limited to trusted testers.
Genie 4 produces realistic scenes that users can alter with prompts while a simulation is running. Weather and camera angles can be changed in real time, and new characters and objects can be added mid-scene. The model also generates matching audio, including music, ambient noise and dialogue, as the scene plays.
Scene consistency lasts up to two minutes, double the duration offered by Genie 3, which was released last year. Gemini is tightly integrated with Genie 4 and can act as a director, planning steps and checking frames while Genie renders the scene.
Google lists games, interactive learning and robotics as the main applications. Trusted testers are also using Genie 4 for film prototyping, the company said.
Availability
Google plans to distribute Genie 4 to Google AI Ultra subscribers through Project Genie within a few weeks. Access will also go to early access partners through the Gemini API and Google AI Studio.
The release follows other activity in the world model space: Runway launched GWM Worlds 2 a few months before this article, and AMD announced it will acquire World Labs, the startup founded by Fei-Fei Li.
