Google brings Personal Intelligence to Gemini in Android Auto
The feature is off by default and draws on connected Gmail, Calendar, Maps, Photos, YouTube and Search data; some regions are excluded at launch.
Google started rolling out Personal Intelligence, a personalization feature for its Gemini assistant, in Android Auto on October 20, according to digitaltoday.co.kr. Cars running Google Built-in will get the feature over the coming months.
The feature draws on data from services the user has allowed to be connected, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Maps, Photos, YouTube and Search. A driver can ask about a flight's gate and departure status, and Gemini locates the booking email in Gmail and reports the current flight status. Users can also request directions to an address taken from a calendar entry, such as a hospital appointment, or ask to navigate to a car wash shown in a photo from the previous week.
Personal Intelligence is off by default and can be switched on in Gemini settings. In Google Built-in vehicles, personalized answers are only provided when the user's phone is connected. General navigation, music playback, calls and question answering remain available without enabling the feature.
The rollout is gradual and limited to supported personal Google accounts belonging to users aged 18 and over. The European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and Nigeria are excluded from the initial launch.
Earlier expansions
Google introduced Gemini to Android Auto last year, and in April 2026 extended it to Google Built-in vehicles.
