Google Rolls Out release_6.144 Firmware for Pixel Buds Pro Lineup
Update adds Dynamic Active Noise Cancellation, Tap to Mute, sleep auto-pause and Enhanced Live Translate to Pixel Buds Pro, Pro 2 and 2a.
Google is rolling out a firmware update for the Pixel Buds Pro, Pixel Buds Pro 2, and Pixel Buds 2a, according to 9to5google.com. The software, version release_6.144, is available through More settings > Firmware update in the Pixel Buds companion app.
The update brings several features to the earbuds. Dynamic Active Noise Cancellation, exclusive to the Pixel Buds Pro 2, automatically adjusts audio or noise cancellation based on ear seal. Tap to Mute lets users mute and unmute the microphone by tapping the buds during phone calls, but requires a paired Pixel phone.
Pixel Buds can also auto-pause media playback when the user falls asleep, as determined by Pixel Watch sleep sensing. The same function disables touch gestures and silences notifications. Enhanced Live Translate allows instant translation with a touch on the earbuds, working with the Google Translate app.
Earlier preview and Gemini controls
In August, Google previewed these features without mentioning that the original Pixel Buds Pro would receive them. Last month, the company added Gemini control via the Pixel Buds companion app update, allowing ANC, EQ, and touch control adjustments by Gemini voice commands.
The Pixel Buds Pro launched in 2022, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 in 2024, and the Pixel Buds 2a in 2025.
