Five Googlebook OS Laptops Go on Sale Today

Dell and HP models use Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chips, while three others run Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors; Google notes some apps may need tuning.

Five laptops running Googlebook OS, Google's new operating system, go on sale starting today, according to Gizmodo. Two of the launch models, the Dell XPS Googlebook and HP Googlebook 14, use ARM-based Snapdragon X Elite chips from Qualcomm. The other three launch laptops use Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors.

Google stated that a small handful of complex apps or games need developer tuning to run their best on Intel-based Googlebooks. The company said it is working with app developers, Intel and Qualcomm to optimize performance and expand compatibility.

Compatibility work continues

In 2024, ARM-based Windows 11 PCs launched with awkward interactions between those chips and some legacy apps and drivers. Google previously said it will showcase in the Play Store a selection of Android apps that run well on the new operating system.
