Home Assistant Cloud Rebrands as Home Assistant Link

Home Assistant Cloud is now Home Assistant Link, founder Paulus Schoutsen announced. The $6.50/month service stays the same, with 60% of profits going to the Open Home Foundation.

Home Assistant is renaming its Home Assistant Cloud service to Home Assistant Link, founder Paulus Schoutsen announced. The subscription service remains priced at $6.50 per month and is operated by Nabu Casa, with all traffic encrypted.

According to theverge.com, 60 percent of the service's profit goes to the non-profit Open Home Foundation. The rebrand does not change the underlying service or its pricing.

Schoutsen has previously highlighted the risks of relying on proprietary cloud services. He cited examples such as Nest shutting off the cloud for its early thermostats and Weber sunsetting the servers for the June Oven. These cases underscore the importance of local control and open standards, which Home Assistant promotes.

Home Assistant is installed in an estimated 2.7 million homes, according to Schoutsen. The platform continues to grow, and the company plans to launch a new more user-friendly hub next year.
