HomePad Setup Leak: Home App, Photo Face Shared with iPhone Duo

Leaker reveals HomePad setup will run in the Home app and share the Photo Face StandBy feature with Apple's foldable iPhone Duo.

A leaker has uncovered details of Apple's HomePad setup process hidden in Apple code, revealing that setup will be carried out in the Home app. The same leaker also found that the HomePad will share a feature with Apple's foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo.

The shared feature is the Photo Face StandBy screen option, which will be available for the HomePad. During setup, the HomePad pulls in a few high-res photos to select while the full photo library downloads from iCloud.

The leaker shared three screen grabs from the setup process, offering a first look at how users will configure the device. The discovery was reported by 9to5mac.com.

In October 2025, the same leaker, pdfu, previously shared five unannounced StandBy views for the iPhone Duo discovered in the Xcode simulator.

Apple's Smart Home Hub is expected to launch on October 13, 2025, with a design based on the iMac G4.
