IDC: Apple Mac Shipments Fall 11.3% as Global PC Market Drops 20.1%
IDC preliminary data shows Apple shipped 5.9 million Macs in Q3 2026, while worldwide PC shipments fell to 62.7 million units.
Apple shipped 5.9 million Macs in the third quarter of 2026, an 11.3% decline from 6.7 million units a year earlier, according to preliminary data from IDC. The drop came as worldwide PC shipments fell 20.1% year over year to 62.7 million units.
Despite the lower volume, Apple's share of the worldwide PC market rose to 9.5% from 8.5%, keeping the company in fourth place among vendors.
Lenovo led the market with 14.9 million shipments and a 23.8% share. HP followed with 10.3 million units and a 16.5% share, while Dell shipped 7.6 million units for a 12.1% share.
HP recorded the steepest decline among the top five vendors, down 30.9%. ASUS fell 8.6% to 5.5 million shipments and an 8.7% share.
IDC said vendors and channels bought inventory earlier in the year ahead of price hikes, pulling demand out of the third quarter.
